Storm Damage Repair in Purcell, OK

A roof can look fine from the driveway after hail or high wind and still be cracked, bruised or loose up top. We check the whole roof, photograph what we find, cover anything open and fix what the storm broke. You get a straight answer on repair, replacement and insurance.

What storm damage repair covers

After a storm, the first job is keeping water out of your home. The second is finding every spot the storm touched, not just the shingles that landed in the yard. Hail bruises shingles and knocks off the granules that protect the asphalt. Wind lifts tabs and breaks the seal strip underneath, so a shingle can lie flat and still not hold.

We fix what can be fixed: lifted or missing shingles, cracked flashing, dented vents and torn ridge cap. When damage runs across most of a slope, patching won't last, and we'll say so. Our roof replacement page explains what happens then.

Oklahoma gets hail in the spring and hard straight-line wind well into summer. A roof check within a few days, before the next rain moves through, keeps a small repair from turning into wet decking and stained ceilings.

What storm repair includes

  1. 01

    Every slope checked and photographed

We get up on the roof and go over each side, even the ones that looked untouched from the ground. Every problem gets a photo, so you see the same thing we see.

  2. 02

    Tarping open spots

Where the storm left a hole or gap, we tarp or seal it so the next rain stays outside while the repair or claim moves along.

  3. 03

    Shingle and ridge cap work

Broken, creased and missing shingles get swapped out, matched as close as current stock allows. We look hard at the ridge and the edge rows, because that's where wind tends to start pulling a roof apart.

  4. 04

    Flashing, vents and pipe boots

Rubber pipe boots split in hail, and metal vents dent. High wind pries flashing loose from walls and chimneys. We reseal or replace these parts, since they're behind a large share of storm leaks.

  5. 05

    Gutters looked over

Hail leaves dents and wind can tear gutters off the fascia. Anything we spot goes on the estimate, and our gutters page explains repairs and new runs.

  6. 06

An itemized estimate for the claim

We hand you a line-item estimate ready for your adjuster and go through it with you. Coverage is up to your policy and your adjuster.

How to tell if the storm hurt your roof

  • Pieces on the ground

Shingles in the yard mean others up top are probably loose. Wind breaks the seal on the ones next to the gaps as well.

  • Grit near the downspouts

A pile of coarse, sandy grit means hail rubbed off the shingle coating. Those bare patches break down quickly in the sun.

  • Dings in metal

Look at roof vents, gutters, the AC unit and even the mailbox. Hail that dents metal nearly always left marks on the shingles too.

  • Shingle edges sitting up

Stand back in the yard and scan for edges that curl up or have a fold line across them. A shingle like that won't stay put next time the wind kicks up.

  • Fresh stains inside

A new spot on the ceiling or damp insulation in the attic means water is already getting in. Put that one at the top of the list.

How the job runs from first call to cleanup

  1. 1

Give us a ring with the details

Tell us the day the storm came through and anything you've spotted since. We'll settle on a visit time that fits your schedule.

  2. 2

    We inspect and document

We check the roof, go into the attic if you've got a leak, and take pictures of each problem. Then we go over those pictures with you face to face.

  3. 3

    Leaks get stopped first

Any open area is tarped or sealed on the spot, so your home stays dry while you weigh your options.

  4. 4

Claim help, if you need it

If you file, we can be on the roof when your adjuster comes and show them what we documented. We'll explain the paperwork, and your insurer makes the coverage decision.

  5. 5

    Repair, then cleanup

We finish the repair, sweep the lawn and driveway with a magnet to pick up stray nails, and haul the scrap away. You get photos of the finished work.

What drives the cost of storm repair

We price a storm job after we've been on the roof, not before. A few loose shingles is a small job. Hail damage across several slopes is a different conversation. If insurance is involved, your share depends on your policy and deductible.

How much of the roof was hit
A single slope costs less than damage spread across the whole roof. Past a certain point, replacement makes more sense than repair.
What's under the shingles
If water already got through, soft or stained decking has to come out. We can't see that until the old shingles come off, and we'll show you if we find it.
Shingle match
Older shingles are sometimes discontinued. If nothing close is made anymore, you may be looking at a full slope instead of a patch.
Pitch and access
Steep roofs and tight spots take more time and safety gear, which adds labor.
Extra parts
Flashing, vents, pipe boots and gutters that were damaged add to the total. Each one shows as its own line on the estimate.

Common questions after a storm

Should I file a claim before or after someone looks at the roof?

Most people are better off getting the roof checked first. We can tell you if the storm really did damage, so you don't start a claim on a roof that came through fine. If it did, you open the claim with photos and an estimate already in your hands.

How long can I wait after a hailstorm to get the roof checked?

Try to get it done within a few days. Hail hits often don't leak at first, but cracked shingles start letting water in over the next few rains. Many policies also have a time limit for filing, so read yours.

Is it possible to repair only the damaged areas?

A lot of the time, yes. When the damage sits in a few spots and we can find matching shingles, a repair makes sense. When hits are scattered over most of the roof, we'll be honest that patching won't last.

How do you deal with my insurance adjuster?

We work next to your adjuster, not in their place. We show them the damage we documented and explain each line of our estimate. What gets covered is decided between you and your insurer.

Will new shingles stand out from the old ones?

Fresh shingles run a shade brighter at first and settle in as they weather. We pick the closest color and style we can get. If the best available match is still clearly off, we'll talk about redoing the whole slope.
